For foreign students
Conditions for matriculation to MSPU
In order to make the invitation we ask you to send us by any convenient ways (e-mail, fax, post) a photocopy of your passport and a form that should be filled in Russian. Your invitation will be issued in Moscow by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation. The payment for the invitation will depend on the duration of your stay and on the urgency.
We kindly ask you to fill in the form IN BLOCK LETTERS legibly.
Documents needed for matriculation to MSPU
To enter our university you should present us the following documents:
- certificate of completion of the Russian language course and the Russian language certificate or any document, confirming knowledge of the Russian language;
- civil passport (original);
- certificate of education (original) and its supplement;
- translation of the certificate of education into Russian, notarized in the consulate of the Russian Federation in the country of education certificate issuing or in Russian notary's office;
- certificate of the equivalence of the certificate of education issued by the Federal Education and Science Supervision Agency of the Russian Federation (if necessary);
- written application for the rector of MPSU;
- medical conclusion issued/ authenticated by an official medical establishment of your country;
- medical certificate, confirming that you don't have AIDS; this certificate should be authenticated/issued by an official medical establishment of your country;
- 12 3x4cm black and white photos.
* Please note that the certificate of education should be duly LEGALIZED (or APOSTILLED) (the information about the legalization can be obtained in the Embassy of the Russian Federation in your country). Certificates of education of CIS countries need not be legalized.
You should register for entrance exams from June, 1 to July, 25.
The entrance exams for all the courses and programmes are from August, 1 to August, 30.

Bachelor’s Degree is the first step of higher education.

MPSU offers a wide-range of short-term educational programmes lasting from 1 to 15 months for all types of students: from school-leavers to high-qualified teachers wishing to acquire a better command of the Russian language.
Preparatory courses of Russian as a foreign language
STUDY TERM:
· 10 months (2 semesters): starting September,1
· 15 months (3 semesters): starting February, 10
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:
· a certificate of education
THE COURSE PROVIDES: the mastery of the Russian language at the level sufficient for admission to the Bachelor's degree courses, the Master's degree courses, post-graduate studies. The course also helps to acquire sufficient command of the Russian language to enable students to conduct professional everyday communication, as well as, to work on their own.
SPECIAL FEATURES of the PROGRAMME: The target audience of the courses are the students who don't have any command of the Russian language. During the first semester the students are taught some basic grammar and lexical skills, the second semester helps them to enlarge this knowledge, while during the third semester the students improve their vocabulary and master more difficult oral skills. The programme helps the students to get sufficient knowledge to pass the test prior to the enrollment on the Bachelor's degree courses, the Master's degree courses and post-graduate studies. The students are also offered some classes of phonetics essential to form the right pronunciation. Each student can also get some private tutorials.

BASIC SKILLS AND COMPETENCES
The programme of the preparatory courses of the Russian language forms some key language competences:
· Communicative competence — the ability to speak Russian and understand people speaking Russian
· Sociolinguistic competence — the adaptation to Russian social and cultural realities; the knowledge of Russian culture and oral etiquette
· Professional competence — the knowledge of basic professional lexics
The preparatory courses of the Russian language enable the students' smooth entry into any of the educational programmes.
CONTINUATION OF EDUCATION
The students of the preparatory courses can continue education:
· Bachelor's programmes require a high-school certificate with the total period of study of not less than 11 years
· Master's programmes require a Bachelor's degree certificate
· Post-graduate programmes require a Bachelor's and Master's degree certificates
· The study course requiring the knowledge of Russian
· The study course requiring the knowledge of the major
· The study course requiring both: the knowledge of Russian and the major
Preparatory courses offered to the students who require additional knowledge of Russian to pass the admission test to a Russian Higher Education Establishment
STUDY TERM:
· from 2 weeks to 2 months
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
· a certificate of education
COURSE PROVIDES: the preparedness of the students for the test on the Russian language. On successful completion of the course and on passing the test the students will receive a certificate.
SPECIAL FEATURES of THE PROGRAMME: the courses prepare the students for the test, get them acquainted with the test format of the test. At the end of the course the students can take a preliminary test.

On completing the course foreign students are psychologically prepared for the test, understand freely the test tasks and react quickly and adequately to the examiner's questions.

The students of the courses can continue education:

· Master's programmes require a Bachelor's degree certificate

COURSE PROVIDES: the improvement of communicative skills, the enlargement of vocabulary, the mastery of Russian oral and written stylistics peculiarities, the acquisition of broad knowledge of Russian literature and culture.
SPECIAL FEATURES OF PROGRAMME: The target audience of the programme are the students with basic or higher level of the Russian language command, wishing to improve their knowledge of the language and to get some essential knowledge the Russian language and culture. This is an individual-plan programme, adapted to both individual needs and personal scientific interests of the student. This student exchange programme prepares the students for the entry to the University as well as to the continuation of education in foreign universities. One of the components of the programme is the research project investigating a theoretical aspect of the Russian language. This is a piece of research work supervised by an experienced MPSU teacher.

Medical care
MSPU students are to obtain the annual medical insurance policy that costs 6500 rubles.
Medical insurance covers medical consultation and, if necessary, highly professional treatment. Besides, all the students have an annual medical check-up.
Residence halls
Both Russian and foreign students are accommodated at one of the residence halls that are situated at: Vernadskogo prospekt, 88, buildings 1, 2, 3. MSPU residence halls are modern 16- and 22-storied buildings equiped with all facilities. Residence halls are situated within a 3-minute walk of the Building of Humanitarian Faculties and within a fifteen-munite walk of the metro station “Yugo-Zapadnaya”.
The rooms in the residence halls are arranged in blocks. In every room 2 or 3 students are accomodated. In each block there is a bathroom, a lavatory, a fridge. Additionally you may rent a TV-set and a telephone. The kitchen is located either in the block or on the floor. On the ground floor in the residence halls you can find shops, cafes, hairdresser's, telephone boxes. The monthly accommodation costs from 2500 to 7000 rubles depending on the level of comfort.
In the Building of Humanitarian Faculties there are some computer classrooms with Internet access. For the sake of the students’ convenience on the university grounds there are some cash-machines. It allows to use credit cards and other means of access to your banking accounts. In every bank of Moscow it is possible to exchange the currency of your country for Russian rubles.
